The AnnLoureiro.com Story

Ann Loureiro isn't quite sure where she picked up the unshakable need to make music. Like her hazel eyes and barely-able-to-sit-still-for-five-minutes demeanor, it's just something that's always been a part of her. "As far back as I can remember, I've always written songs, and I've always wanted to play music," says Loureiro, a singer-songwriter and guitarist. "It's my personal therapy."

Ann has recently released her debut CD, Partyline, which showcases her thought-provoking, poetic songwriting style. Based upon Ann's own personal experiences and relationships, Ann has given us a collection of 13 songs which clearly describes emotions we all commonly share. The songs may inspire you or make you reflect on experiences you have had in your own life. And her enchanting vocal style is focused, concise, and expressive, so Ann succeeds in making sure the listener clearly understands her.

10 of Partyline's tracks were produced in North Carolina by producer-guitarist Mitch Easter (REM, Suzanne Vega, Let's Active, Wilco), with an additional 3 tracks produced in Los Angeles by singer-songwriter-musician Randell Kirsch (Show Of Hands, Jan & Dean, Papa Do Run Run) and remixed by Mitch. The songs on the CD encompass a variety of styles, ranging from the jazz-influenced "Ice On An Angel's Wings" to the country-flavored "The Necklace" to the pop sound of "Rivers of Love."

Not long ago, Loureiro lived and worked in Los Angeles where she played in small club venues and worked for I.R.S. Records, the independent label that kick-started the careers of such major musical acts as The Go-Gos, R.E.M., The Bangles, and The English Beat.

"My first love is songwriting. But when I worked at IRS, I worked with a lot of great bands, and I craved the camaraderie I saw." So she joined an all-girl quartet called The Tomboys. The Tomboys played such LA hot spots as Music Machine and the Palomino, and drew the attention of Rodney Bingenheimer, a well-known DJ at the alternative radio station KROQ, who put their Ethan James produced single, "Persistence/Say You Need Me," on the air.
